Zweigart 1006 is a coarse cotton Aida with clearly formed blocks and open holes, so the needle slips through easily and the squares can be counted at a glance. It suits beginners, projects stitched with children and anyone who would rather work without a magnifier.
Designs come out large, which makes it a good choice for Christmas decorations, bags, cushions, banners and big alphabets. Four to six strands of stranded cotton cover the block well; perle cotton no. 3 or no. 5 and tapestry wool also work, with a size 20 or 22 tapestry needle. The fabric is firm enough to stitch in the hand, without a hoop. Work out the finished size before cutting.
