Perl-Aida is a cotton Aida with clearly defined blocks that are easy to count, even in poor light. It suits beginners, stitching with children and anyone who would rather not work with a magnifier: the open holes guide the needle and a project grows quickly – framed pictures, samplers, cushions, bags, Christmas decorations and borders on towels and bibs.
Full cross stitches normally take three strands of stranded cotton, two for a lighter look and one for backstitch; perle cotton no. 5 and other heavier threads work well too. Stitch with a size 22 or 24 tapestry needle, with or without a hoop, and leave at least 5 cm of spare fabric around the design for finishing.
