Davosa is a pure cotton evenweave with the same number of threads in warp and weft, so threads are easy to count and to withdraw. It has a soft but firm handle, in the hand or in a hoop, and suits cross stitch, half cross stitch, backstitch, Hardanger and drawn thread work on samplers, small table linen, bags and household accessories.
Cross stitch worked over two threads gives a result close to 9 count Aida: use three strands of stranded cotton, or two strands over a single thread for finer work. For Hardanger, stitch the kloster blocks in no. 5 coton perlé and the fillings in no. 8, with a size 24 tapestry needle. The cotton is stable, so pressing the fabric before starting is usually enough.
