A cushion in night-time shades: lilac and pink wolfsbane flowers among green and blue foliage on a dark ground, with a moth and two beetles tucked among the stems. April Mawhinney's artwork is printed in full colour on the canvas, so you stitch straight onto the painted design and use the chart for the backstitch outlines.
Worked in wool, needlepoint covers quickly and produces a thick, hard-wearing fabric that suits a cushion in daily use. To make it up you will also need backing fabric, a cushion pad and any trim, none of which are included; the photo shows the piece finished with velvet piping. It can equally be framed or used to cover a small stool.
