The eagle is worked in shades of brown, grey and white, with feather tips left deliberately ragged in the style of Hannah Dale's watercolours. The speckled background is already printed on the fabric and gives the collection its typical flecked look: it is not stitched, so the piece grows faster than the size suggests.
Alongside full cross stitch you will need a few fractional stitches, back stitch for the details and one French knot for the eye, so some previous practice helps. A hoop or frame, scissors and a picture frame are not included and are chosen separately. Once finished and pressed from the back, the design makes an attractive framed picture.
