A greetings card to stitch and then give away: the two hamsters in their heart-patterned mug come from an original watercolour by Hannah Dale for Wrendale Designs, and the speckled background is already printed on the fabric, so the stitching stands out without having to fill in the whole ground.
It is a small project but a varied one: alongside cross stitch there are fractional stitches, back stitch outlines and French knots, handy for learning or brushing up the basics. The card and envelope are included, together with an alphabet for adding a name or a date. You only need a small hoop and a pair of scissors; the finished piece is mounted inside the card following the instructions.
