Heart Of Wales

A heart filled with a Welsh scene: the castle flying the dragon flag, mountains and fir trees, the sun behind a cloud, a rabbit among the daffodils and 'Wales' lettering in flowing green script. It is worked by counting the squares of the fabric and following the chart, with a pale background that lets the greens of the stitching stand out.

As well as cross stitch, the design uses back stitch for outlines, French knots and lazy daisies for the flowers, plus a silver metallic thread for sparkle; the cottons come ready sorted on an organiser, so there is no hunting for shades. The frame is not included, and you will also want a hoop and small scissors. Finished, it makes a lovely souvenir to hang.
