A high-heeled shoe built out of seaside memories: sky and clouds across the upper, shells, seagulls, a little beach hut, a striped lifebuoy, a deckchair and a sandcastle. It belongs to the series of shoes designed by Sally King and, once finished, looks at home in a bathroom or makes a present for someone who loves the coast.

The design is worked in full cross stitch, with backstitch for the outlines and a few French knots for the details, so it suits anyone who has already tried the basics. The threads come ready sorted by colour on an organiser, which saves untangling skeins. You will also need a hoop or frame and a small pair of scissors; the frame shown is not included.
