A spray of clematis in bloom with butterflies above it, worked in counted cross stitch on light grey Aida: the neutral ground is left unstitched and sets off the white and lilac petals. The fabric is not printed, so the design is followed on the colour chart with symbols, starting from the centre and counting the stitches.
The threads come ready sorted and mounted on an organiser with the colour numbers, which helps with a design that has this many shades. You will also want a hoop or frame and a small pair of embroidery scissors; leave a few extra centimetres of fabric around the stitched area for finishing. The finished piece suits framing, and the frame shown in the photo is not included.
