Description

Aida is a sound starting point for cross stitch: the weave groups the threads into clear blocks with well-defined holes, so every stitch has its own square and there is no need to work over two threads as on evenweave. It suits framed pieces, samplers, bookmarks, Christmas ornaments, bibs, bags and cushion fronts.

Two strands of stranded cotton are usual for the cross stitches and one strand for backstitch outlines; three strands give fuller coverage. A size 24 tapestry needle passes through the holes without enlarging them. Overcast or zigzag the edges of the cut before starting, as cotton Aida frays easily.

The fabric has a print that reminds me of a clear sky while it snows, compared to the descriptive image of the product the white dots are much more evident. They are quite scattered, so if you use it for a snowy setting I recommend rather large designs. At first glance it reminds me of the iconic color of the boxes of a well-known jewelry store, on the DMC color chart I notice that 3811 is the most similar. Very bright, I have purchased it several times, obviously highly recommended!
