Fein-Aida is a cotton fabric woven in clearly defined blocks with open holes at the corners, so stitches sit evenly without counting individual threads. The small squares give more detail than coarser Aidas and suit busy charts, miniatures, bookmarks, cards, small framed pieces and samplers, while remaining easy to work for anyone starting out.
Cross stitch is usually worked with one strand of stranded cotton, two for fuller coverage; one strand is enough for backstitch. A size 26 tapestry needle passes through the holes without enlarging them. Each pack contains a free chart, and it is worth overcasting the edges before mounting the fabric in a hoop or frame.
