Before stitching	Washing the fabric first is advisable, as linen shrinks by about 3% in the first wash; if the piece is only going to be framed you can skip it. Apart from white and natural (raw) shades, never go above 35 °C, and handle the fabric gently while wet, as viscose is fragile
Washing after stitching	By hand, never above 30 °C, with a mild soap for delicates (or Marseille soap), without rubbing so the threads do not bleed; rinse in plenty of cold water
Drying and ironing	Remove excess water by rolling the fabric in a clean towel and pressing, without wringing; dry flat, in the shade, away from heat sources. Iron while still slightly damp, at a medium setting, always from the back, with a folded soft towel under the embroidery

Description

Floba Zählstoff is a counted fabric with a linen-like surface: the slightly irregular weave softens the grid of the stitches and gives finished pieces a rustic look. The open count makes it easy to work for anyone starting with counted thread embroidery, and handy for quick projects – table centres and runners, drawstring bags, cushions, totes, samplers and punch needle work with wool.

Cross stitch over two threads gives large stitches, so choose substantial threads: four strands of stranded cotton, perlé no. 5 or tapestry wool; over one thread two strands are enough. A size 22 or 24 tapestry needle slides between the threads without piercing them. Zigzag or overcast the edges before you begin, as this fabric frays easily.
