A tousled fox with closed eyes and its face lifted to the sun, rising out of a field of red poppies: a watercolour by Hannah Dale translated into counted cross stitch. The fabric comes with a speckled background already printed on it, which gives the design depth and keeps the pale areas quick to work.
The kit uses full cross stitches, with a little backstitch to outline the face and the poppy stems. The stranded cottons arrive pre-sorted by colour on a card organiser, so you can start straight away. You will just need a hoop or frame and small scissors; the frame for the finished piece is chosen separately.
