The design comes already printed in colour on the calico, so you stitch over the lines and shapes without counting threads. The piece uses a range of different stitches — from flower stems to filled petals, plus beads for sparkle on the details — and each one is explained in the stitch diagram supplied, which makes it a good way to add new stitches to your repertoire.

A hoop or frame makes the work easier to hold, but it is not part of the kit, and neither is a picture frame. The square finished embroidery can be framed, mounted in a display hoop or made up into a cushion. The kit arrives in plastic-free packaging, which also makes it easy to give as a present.
