A mouse climbing the red cap of a toadstool, whiskers and tail in full view, from a painting by Hannah Dale. The background of the fabric is already printed with tiny speckles that set the scene around the stitching, so there is no solid background to fill and the work grows quickly.
You stitch by counting from the chart: mostly full crosses, with a few fractional stitches, back stitch for the outlines and one French knot for the eye. The threads come ready sorted by colour on the organiser, so you can start straight away — just add small scissors and, if you like your fabric taut, a hoop or frame. The frame shown is not included.
