Description

A fox's head rises from the grass among wild flowers: the orange and grey tones are built up with close blending, giving the fur an almost photographic look. Alongside the cross stitch the chart uses a few long stitches for the finer hairs and flower stems.

The evenweave is worked over two threads for each cross, usually with two strands of stranded cotton; a magnifier and good light help in the heavily shaded areas. A hoop or frame and the picture frame are not included: given its size, the finished piece looks best framed with a pale mount.
