Description

A spring sampler by Marjolein Bastin: garden tools, pots, bulbs and the first flowers of the year arranged on a pale background, with birds and chicks bringing the composition to life. It is a large piece with many shades and small details, so it takes time and some experience of counted cross stitch.

The evenweave fabric is usually worked over two threads, following the large-square chart; alongside the kit you will want small scissors, a hoop or frame big enough for the work and good light. The frame is not included: once finished, the embroidery can be laced over board and framed with a mount, as shown in the photo.
