A softly shaded portrait, with the reds and pinks of the peonies framing the face and a few butterflies in flight. The design is highly detailed and some colour transitions are made by blending strands of different shades in the same needle. The stitching is counted on evenweave fabric, usually over two threads, following the large-square chart.
Its size and the number of shades make it a demanding piece, better suited to stitchers with some experience, though the instructions in eight languages guide you through each step. You will also want a hoop or frame and good lighting; the frame shown in the photo is not included and can be chosen once the work is finished.
