Description

A lion with a full mane, joined by a small animal in the grass, with the words 'WILD' and 'ONE' stitched above and below. The artwork is by illustrator Kate Garrett and the finished piece becomes a hanging pennant flag, a nice choice for a nursery wall or as a first birthday gift.

The design is worked in counted cross stitch on Aida, with back stitch for the outlines and French knots for the small details: both are easy stitches and the instructions explain them, along with how to finish the fabric and mount it on the wooden dowel. The stranded cottons come pre-sorted by colour, so no extra thread is needed: just add scissors and, if you like working with the fabric taut, a hoop or frame.
