A Candle Was Burning

A winter still life in soft tones: the red of the poinsettias and berries stands out against the white and pale blue of the landscape beyond the window, while the lit candle warms the whole scene. The long colour list and the subtle shading of ice and porcelain make this a project for stitchers with some experience of counted cross stitch.

Everything needed for the stitching is in the box, threads included, already sorted on the organiser so you can work without muddling the shades. You only need a hoop or frame and a small pair of scissors; on 16 count Aida, use one or two strands depending on the coverage you prefer. The frame is not included: the square finished piece makes a lovely Christmas picture to hang year after year.
