Lantern in Bloom

An ornate lantern with a lit candle, surrounded by pink peonies and roses, red berries and bare branches: a richly shaded design with many tonal changes, worked in counted cross stitch from the full-colour symbolic chart.

The 35 colours come ready sorted on the organiser, so there is no sorting to do before you start. Aida 16 count has a fine weave: good light helps, and a magnifier if you use one; a hoop or frame keeps the fabric taut, and is not included, nor is the frame shown in the photo. The finished square piece looks good framed with a pale mount.
