A nineteenth-century parlour scene: a violin resting beside an open score, a stack of books and a vase overflowing with roses and dahlias, with a lit candelabrum and the outline of a cathedral beyond the window. The design is worked in counted cross stitch from a full-colour symbolic chart, on green Aida that shows through in the background areas and adds depth to the composition.
Its size and the number of shades make it a substantial project, best suited to stitchers with some counted cross stitch experience. A hoop or frame to keep the fabric taut is also useful; the frame shown is not included. Once finished, the piece deserves mounting on board and framing with a mount.
