Plein feu

A sunset over the sea with a boat drawn up on the sand: the design is already printed in colour on the canvas, so there is no counting involved and you simply fill in one colour area at a time. Penelope canvas is woven with double threads, so it can be worked in standard needlepoint or in petit point over a single thread for the subtler areas, such as the sky and the reflections on the water.

Threads are not included: choose them separately, in tapestry wool or cotton, matching the printed shades. Along with the yarn you will need a blunt-tipped tapestry needle and, if you like to keep the canvas taut, a frame. The unworked margin around the design leaves enough fabric for framing the finished piece.
