Voile et nageoire

A sailing boat cutting through the waves, with dolphins and seagulls alongside: the design is already printed in colour on the Penelope canvas, so there is no counting involved and you simply fill in the printed areas. It is a generously sized piece that works up steadily, since the same stitch is repeated throughout.

Threads are not included: they are chosen separately, usually tapestry wool matching the printed colours, together with a blunt tapestry needle. Penelope canvas can be worked over the whole mesh in half cross stitch or split for petit point. Once finished, the piece can be stretched and framed as a picture.
