Before stitching	Washing the fabric first is advisable: with linen in the blend, the first wash can shrink it by around 3%. Wash by hand in lukewarm water and do not wring (viscose is weaker when wet). If the piece is only to be framed, it can be stitched unwashed.
Washing after stitching	Never above 30 °C, with a mild soap for delicates, without rubbing so the threads do not bleed; rinse in plenty of cold water.
Drying and pressing	Remove excess water by rolling the fabric in a clean towel and pressing, never wringing; dry flat, in the shade, away from heat sources. Press while still slightly damp, at a medium setting, always from the back, with a soft folded towel under the embroidery so the stitches are not flattened.

Description

Fein-Floba is an evenweave fabric blending viscose and linen: the surface has the slightly irregular look of linen, while the threads stay even and easy to count and the handle remains soft. It suits framed pieces, samplers, table mats, small cloths, pouches and little items for the home.

Cross stitch is usually worked over two threads, with two strands of stranded cotton for the crosses and one for the backstitch; over one thread a single strand is enough. Use a size 24 tapestry needle, which slips between the threads without distorting the weave, and leave a margin around the design for framing and finishing. Washing the fabric before stitching avoids surprises, as the linen content can shrink.
