Four irises stand side by side in a wide, horizontal design: yellow, deep purple, blue and pale lilac blooms show up clearly against the cream fabric, with green leaves giving the picture its structure. The flowers are worked in full cross stitch from a counted chart, with backstitch added at the end to outline the petals and sharpen the details.
The stranded cottons come already sorted on an organiser, so there is no sorting to do before you start. A hoop or frame and a small pair of embroidery scissors make the work easier; a frame for display is not included, and is best chosen once the piece is finished, bearing in mind its elongated shape.
