A bank of wild flowers in the foreground — pink cosmos, spires of lilac, little daisies — and two sheep resting behind them, in the naive style that makes Lucy Pittaway's paintings work so well in cross stitch. The square design fills the fabric and the background is stitched throughout, so it is a project to enjoy over time and suits stitchers who already know their way around counted work.
Alongside the cross stitch there is back stitch for the outlines and French knots for the smallest flowers. The threads come ready sorted on the organiser, so you can start straight away; a hoop or frame and a pair of small scissors are worth having to hand. The frame shown is not included: once finished, the piece can be framed to measure or made up into a cushion.
