A little train winding through an autumn forest along a mountain railway, worked in counted cross stitch from the chart. The 16-count Aida has a close weave, so the stitches come out small and crisp: ideal for the detail of the landscape and the many thread shades, but it does call for careful counting and good light.
Fabric, threads, needle and chart are all in the kit: to stitch comfortably you may want to add a hoop or frame, a small pair of scissors and, at the end, a picture frame. A useful tip is to mark the centre of the fabric with a tacking thread and start from there. Once finished, the piece makes a picture to hang.
