A little scene of kittens playing around an old Singer sewing machine, to work in counted cross stitch on cappuccino-coloured 16-count Aida: the warm background sets off the stitching and no white fabric shows between the stitches. With 31 colours there is plenty of shading, so it is worth sorting the threads onto a thread organiser before you start.

Fabric, threads, needle, chart and instructions are all in the kit, so you can begin straight away; a hoop or frame and good light also help, as 16-count Aida has a finer weave than 14-count. Once finished, the piece is ideal for framing, for instance above a sewing table or in a craft room.
