A wintry portrait in shades of blue: a girl wrapped in a woollen shawl, mittens held close to her face, with snow falling around her. The design is worked in counted cross stitch, with a few long stitches for the finer details such as the eyelashes and the strands of the shawl.
The kit comes with fabric, threads and needle: the frame shown in the photo is not included. Linen with 12 threads per cm is usually stitched over two threads with one strand of stranded cotton, giving a fine, softly shaded result; a hoop or frame helps keep the tension even. Once finished, the piece is made to be framed.
