A countryside scene taken from an original painting by Lucy Pittaway: a sheep enjoying the sun beside a round hay bale, a flowering meadow in the foreground and soft green hills behind. Everything needed for the stitching is in the box, threads already sorted by colour, so you can start straight away.
The design is worked in counted cross stitch from the chart, with back stitch for the outlines and French knots to add texture to the small flowers. The even weave of 14 count Aida is easy to count, which helps if you are still gaining confidence. A hoop or frame is useful while you stitch, and the picture frame is not included.
