A botanical-plate composition: flowers, leaves and butterflies surround a ring-tailed lemur, a penguin and a kiwi, with the name of the Zoological Society of London across the centre. The design is printed in full colour on the fabric, so you follow the chart while always seeing where you are — handy on a close weave such as 16 count Aida.

As well as cross stitch, the design uses back stitch for the outlines and French knots for small details, which makes it better suited to stitchers with a little experience. You will also want a hoop or frame, small scissors and good light. The frame is not included; the upright format works well as a picture.
