An old town lane at coffee time: a girl riding past on her bicycle, tables laid under the parasols, wrought-iron street lamps and a cascade of pink blossom over the wall. The sandy and dusty-pink palette with its many pale shades suits stitchers who already have some experience of counted cross stitch and enjoy detailed scenes.
The design is worked from a symbol chart, usually with two strands of stranded cotton on Aida. The instructions come in English, German and French, and the colour chart is easy to follow. A hoop or frame and good lighting make the work easier; once finished, the piece is best shown off framed.
