An autumn scene by the water: the white heron stands out against the warm orange shrubs and the mist closing the horizon. The whole design is worked in counted cross stitch on unprinted fabric, following the symbolic chart, starting from the centre and filling one colour area at a time.
With 32 shades and many soft gradations it suits stitchers with a little practice, or anyone happy to take their time on a first large piece; the threads come ready sorted on the organiser, so the right colour is easy to find. You will also need a hoop or frame and good light. The frame is not included: the finished piece can be mounted with or without glass.
