A curious hen from an illustration by Hannah Dale, worked in cross stitch on fabric whose background already carries the printed paint splashes, so the speckles around the bird need no stitching and the piece grows quickly. Apart from full crosses there are only a few fractional stitches, back stitch outlines and two French knots, which makes it a good choice once you have a chart or two behind you.
The threads come sorted and numbered on the organiser, ready to use. You will also need a hoop or frame and a small pair of scissors; the frame shown is not included. Finished, it suits a kitchen wall or a country-style room.
