The Venice of the North

A night-time view of houses along a frozen canal, with snow on the roofs, boats at their moorings and lit windows mirrored in the water. The long panoramic format and the range of blues and violets make this a striking piece to stitch.

It is worked in counted cross stitch from the chart, on a ready-cut piece of Aida. This is a demanding project, both for its width and for the many shades in the sky and the reflections, so some stitching experience helps. A hoop or frame and good lighting make the work easier. No frame is included: once finished, the panoramic embroidery is ideal for framing as a picture.
