A smiling fox and a squirrel posing beside a carved pumpkin, among tumbling leaves and little red mushrooms: Kate Garrett's design is made to become a hanging pennant, using the wooden dowel supplied and the finishing instructions.
It is worked in counted cross stitch from the chart, with a little back stitch for the outlines and French knots for small details. The instructions also cover making up the pennant, so it helps to have scissors, a sewing needle and thread and a cord for hanging to hand. A seasonal decoration that packs away easily and comes out again each autumn; a hoop or frame makes the stitching more comfortable.
