Applegarden Rust belongs to Hometown, the Tilda collection built around home and neighbourhood, with houses, gardens and autumn gatherings in warm seasonal shades. This print is a stylised orchard: trees whose canopies are filled with pale dots and pink leaves, clearly drawn roots and small blue apples standing out against the rust ground.
The medium scale stays readable even once the fabric is cut into squares and triangles, so it works well in the blocks of an autumn quilt, in borders, and for cushions, bags, table runners and drawstring pouches. It sits happily next to the smaller prints in the same collection and with solids in rust and blue. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
