Solid Lupine is one of the Tilda Basics plains, a blue leaning towards violet: the shade you reach for when there are already plenty of prints and the piecing needs somewhere to rest. In patchwork, solids are used for backgrounds, inner frames, borders and quilt backs, and also for the details of Tilda dolls, from clothes to small hand-sewn decorations.
The cotton is firm and stable, easy to sew by machine and pleasant to quilt. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before the blocks go together. For long uncut lengths such as borders and backings, choose one of the larger cuts, which keep the full width of the bolt.
