Aubery Blue belongs to Songbird, the collection Tone Finnanger drew after a trip to Venice, with a light nod to Art Nouveau and a dusty pastel palette. A red-haired maiden in a pink dress reaches out towards a dragonfly among large blue peonies and green stems: a large-scale print that reads best when it is left whole.
Use it for the centre blocks of a quilt, for a cushion front, for bags, pouches or a fabric book cover. It sits happily next to the smaller prints of the same collection, which work as a quiet background. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
