Aubery Mustard belongs to Songbird, the collection Tone Finnanger drew after a trip to Venice, reworking Art Nouveau lines in a lighter, more naive way. A female figure with flowers in her hair plays with dragonflies among mustard peonies and sage foliage: a large-scale print that is best left whole, in the centre blocks of a quilt or on the front of a cushion or bag.
It sits well next to the small-scale prints in the same collection, which give the eye somewhere to rest. Pre-washing before cutting avoids surprises once you start sewing; for long strips or a quilt backing, choose one of the larger cuts.
