Esther Burgundy belongs to Village Life, the Tilda collection that echoes old wallpapers and pretty vintage dresses. The print is a small, very dense ditsy floral: from a distance it reads as a deep red ground scattered with pink and cream, so it works well in the small pieces of a quilt, in linings, drawstring bags and doll clothes.
It is part of the colder side of the collection, built on burgundy and blues, and sits easily next to solids or the larger prints in the same line. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew. For borders and long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
