Flora Blue belongs to Songbird, the collection Tone Finnanger drew after a trip to Venice, a light, naive nod to Art Nouveau in a palette of dusty pastels. The print is dense and all-over: pink carnations outlined in red winding through blue and ochre stems on a pale ground, with no particular direction, so it can be cut whichever way suits the project.
It works equally well in the larger pieces of a quilt and in sewing: bags, pouches, linings, cushions, dolls and Tilda clothes. Mix it with the other fabrics in the collection and with solids in blue and pink tones. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
