Garden Vista is the feature design of Bloomsville, Tilda's summer collection: Tone Finnanger took her inspiration from old chinoiseries and from a motif found on a vase made by a factory that closed in the 1960s. Here the scene runs across a warm mustard yellow ground, with parasol ladies, flowering gardens and lakeside views in pink, turquoise and red.
It is a large-scale print that works best when it stays whole: centre panels of a quilt, borders, cushions, bags and curtains. It sits easily next to plain fabrics and the smaller florals of the same collection. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
