Lillian Teal belongs to Village Life, the Tilda collection inspired by old wallpapers and pretty vintage dresses. It is one of the small-scale prints of the range, a blender: densely packed little leafy sprigs with the odd red berry, on a cream ground that keeps everything light. A print this even can be cut in any direction and never competes with the other fabrics.
It works well for quilt patches, borders, cushion backs, drawstring bags and small sewing projects, and sits happily in the collection's autumn palette of rust, ochre and greens. Pre-wash before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
