Poppy Seed Charcoal is one of Tilda's basics: a scattering of small pale dots, irregular like poppy seeds, over a deep charcoal grey. This is the kind of workhorse print that never competes with large-scale designs, giving quilt blocks room to breathe and working well for borders, cushion backs and the small details of bags and pouches.
The dark ground also makes it a useful contrast between light-background prints, and from a distance it reads as a plain grey – handy for dolls, soft animals and sewn decorations. Pre-wash before cutting so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew. For long strips or continuous borders, choose one of the larger cuts.
