Poppy Seed Tea is one of the Tilda basics: tiny cream dots scattered freehand over a warm terracotta ground, a small-scale print that reads almost as a solid colour from a distance. It is the fabric to reach for when large-scale prints need breathing space, and it works on its own too, for quilt backs, borders and small accessories.
It cuts easily into strips, squares and triangles with no directional print to worry about, and sits well with the rust, sage and cream tones of the collection. Soft and closely woven, it also suits dolls and soft decorations. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
