Tilda Doll Fabric - Sand

This is the plain cotton Tone Finnanger created for the bodies of Tilda dolls and angels: a warm sand tone, neither too pink nor too yellow, used as the skin colour in her books. It machine-sews easily and holds stuffing well, even in narrow parts such as arms and legs.

The same fabric makes a useful neutral background in patchwork, letting the Tilda prints stand out. Pre-wash it before cutting: shrinkage is noticeable and a body sewn beforehand would lose its shape. To finish a doll you will also need stuffing, matching sewing thread and colours for the face.
