Wildgarden Night is the darkest, most dramatic print in Something Blue, the Tilda collection born out of Tone Finnanger's love of blue and white pottery. Pale open blooms and finer flowering sprigs sit on a deep navy ground, arranged like a bouquet that deserves to be seen whole: large blocks, borders, the back of a cushion, bags, skirts and aprons.
The dark background gives the eye a rest between the lighter prints in the collection and works well next to small-scale motifs and cream fabrics. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for long strips or a quilt backing, choose one of the larger cuts.
