Father Christmas pedals through the snow with parcels in one basket and a little dog bundled in a scarf in the other, surrounded by fir trees and falling snow. It is a greetings card to stitch and then post or hand over: the finished embroidery mounts into the aperture of the triple-fold card, which folds back to hide the raw edges of the fabric.
The size is small and takes only a few evenings, though 16 count Aida is fine-woven: good light helps, and a magnifier if you use one. Apart from the kit you only need small scissors and, if you like, a little hoop. The recipient can later remove the stitching and frame it as a Christmas decoration.
